For me, photography has always been about more than capturing a beautiful image. It's about the experience, the connection to the natural world, and those unforgettable moments that happen when you least expect them.

I'm Stan Novotny, a professional wildlife and landscape photographer, certified marine naturalist, and the founder of Coastal Workshops and Coastal Photo Tours, based on Vancouver Island, British Columbia.

My photography has taken me from the rugged coastlines and remote wilderness of British Columbia to the extraordinary landscapes and wildlife of Alaska. Whether I'm photographing coastal bears, humpback whales, bald eagles, or dramatic landscapes, I'm constantly drawn to the unpredictable beauty of the natural world.

Over the years, I've developed a passion for sharing these experiences with others. Through my photography workshops and guided adventures, I bring together my knowledge of wildlife, photography, and the coastal environments I know so well.

As both a photographer and vessel captain, I offer a unique perspective on wildlife photography, combining an understanding of animal behaviour, natural light, and photographic composition with the experience needed to navigate some of British Columbia's most remarkable coastal locations.

My workshops are intentionally kept small, allowing for personalized instruction, creative exploration, and the flexibility to take advantage of changing light, weather, and wildlife opportunities.
